Greene County HS presents “Anastasia” this weekend

Greene County High School students will present the musical “Anastasia” this weekend.

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at 7 pm, and Sunday, March 8, at 2 pm in the high school auditorium. Parking will be available in both the north and south lots.

Playing lead roles are Lucy Vander Linden as Anya, Carter Petterson as Dmitry and William Graham as Vlad.

The district’s recently-purchased short throw projector will debut at “Anastasia.” The projector allows images and sets to be shown on a screen behind the performers, rather than building or renting backdrops and sets. The school board approved the purchase at its February meeting. Total cost is $25,282, with the Greene County Activities Booster Club paying $5,000 and a $10,000 grant from the Greene County Community Foundation covering part of the cost.

High school choir director Dave Heupel is directing the show, with band director Wes Anderson directing the pit orchestra. While only students will be onstage, the pit orchestra is comprised primarily of adult volunteers, with several of them driving long distances to play.

Adult tickets are available in advance at https://www.gobound,com/ia/schools/greenecounty/tickets and at the door. Students tickets will be available only at the door.
